Glossary of software terms
- Registration key
- A special code given to you as proof of purchase after you buy a piece of software. You typically enter this code into the software to unlock its full features.
- Software trial
- A program available to download for free, usually with a short expiry or crippled features so that you can try out the basics before deciding if you want to purchase.
- Trial period
- The length of time you can use the downloaded software freely, after which it will expire and become locked.
